I brought a high contrast Kodalith negative into Photoshop and used layer masks and blending modes to get red glassware. I did this whole series in Photoshop for a RGB color space. The original photo was taken with a 4x5" Calumet 22" bellows view camera with a Caltar 215mm f/4.8 lens on Kodak Kodalith Ortho type 3 graphic arts film. The ISO was very slow at 8 for tungsten lighting.
Photography has been my life. I was always curious about what went on inside the camera and in the darkroom. Photography was something mysterious--a little bit of magic plus a little bit of science. It was alchemy. I ventured forth to turn silver halide crystals into gold. Like all photographers I started out as a hobbyist. From home darkrooms to industrial photo labs and in various studios and on-location as a commercial photographer. I have assisted many professional photographers, worked in various labs and studios.
